I am delighted to announce the publication of my latest article titled “Les compétences interculturelles : un outil nécessaire à l’éducation francophone d’aujourd’hui” in the journal Éducation et francophonie (ACELF, Fall 2024).

In an increasingly diverse world, Francophone educational environments face unique challenges related to cultural, linguistic, and identity diversity. This article explores how intercultural competence can become an essential lever to address these challenges, providing teachers, students, and communities with concrete tools to live together and learn from one another.

Here are some of the key topics discussed in the article:

  • The challenges of cultural diversity in Francophone settings: understanding the issues posed by multicultural and multi-identity contexts while valuing the contributions of diversity.

  • Intercultural competence as a solution: I describe how these skills—including intercultural communication, empathy, and the recognition of multiple identities—can be integrated into pedagogical practices to promote an inclusive environment.

  • Practical strategies for teachers: highlighting concrete examples and tailored tools, I explain how teachers can adapt their approaches to foster enriching relationships and mutual understanding.

  • Impact on students: developing these skills not only promotes school inclusion but also prepares students to become open-minded and responsible citizens in a globalized world.

This article is intended for educators, researchers, and education policymakers alike, with the hope of enriching pedagogical practices and discussions in the Francophone educational community.

I would be delighted to hear your feedback and engage in discussions on these essential issues for the future of Francophone education. Feel free to contact me!
